The Organization of American States (OAS) will organize the Second Seminar on Innovation, Science and Technology for Energy-Efficient Development in Central America, on August 6 and 7 in Guatemala City, as part of the activities of the Working Group on Energy Efficiency of the Energy and Climate Partnership of the Americas (ECPA).

The seminar, whose theme will be the efficiency of transport in Central America, will be organized by the OAS Department of Sustainable Development with the support of the Instituto de Ciencia y Tecnología para el Desarrollo of the Universidad Rafael Landívar of Guatemala¸ the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), of Italy; and the National Commission for the Efficient Use of Energy (CONUEE) of Mexico.

The symposium will examine the challenges facing Central America with respect to energy efficiency in transportation, and strategies developed to address them based on the regional geopolitical context. There will be discussion panels that will examine the operation of numerous national and regional projects aimed at facilitating multiple modes of transportation in order to make them more safe, clean and fast.
