If transparency is necessary for Democracy to function then the Desarrollando America Latina (Developing Latin America) competition is imperative for Latin America. Even if the pervasive corruption in Mexico and central and south America does not cause poverty, it certainly does not help.

Global Voices, an international community of bloggers reporting media from around the world, recently reported on the results of the Desarrollando America Latina competition. The post is a part of the Global Voices’ Technology for Transparency Network which seeks out technological solutions to increase accountability. The competition lasted for 30 consecutive hours and spanned 6 Latin American countries.
