Central American governments representatives meet in Panama to discuss the impact of urban energy infrastructure expansion

The Department of Sustainable Development (DSD) of the Executive Secretariat for Integral Development (SEDI) of the Organization of American States (OAS) and the National Secretariat of Energy of the Government of Panama are organizing the Regional Technical Workshop on the Impact of urban energy infrastructure expansion. This event will be held in Panama City on February 26th and aims to bring together the governments of Central America to discuss sustainable energy strategies that ensure stable access to energy as an essential element of development. Similarly, the meeting aims to address different experiences, solutions and various aspects related to the growth of cities and the challenge that this brings to the energy sector.

This meeting is part of the activities under the Energy and Climate Partnership of the Americas (ECPA) Clearinghouse, and will address the different experiences, solutions and various aspects related to the growth of cities and the challenge that this brings to the energy sector. The actions that governments have implemented in order to improve the current energy efficiency and ensure the supply of residential, commercial, industrial and transport sector will also be discussed. This second technical workshop is part of a series of four similar events, this time addressing the Central American context and will focus on the urban energy demand structures. The Government of Panama, as host, will use this activity to show its progress in mass transit, and the incorporation of renewable energy to the national grid.
