Regulatory aspects of integration and interconnection of electricity markets
Session 2:
Strong interconnection capacities allow the best exploitation of renewables plants thanks to the possibility to export excess generation and the potential of mutual support between countries. In addition to the infrastructure required for physical interconnection, successful integration of energy markets requires regulatory coordination or harmonization between participating countries. This session will discuss the importance of sound supranational regulatory frameworks to regulate energy trade activities, capable of upholding commercial agreements, and defining regional energy policies with the purpose of promoting energy as a right of all citizens.
