Panel of Experts and Dialogue: Building More Sustainable Cities and Communities in the Americas

The Department of Sustainable Development of the Executive Secretariat for Integral Development of the Organization of American States will hold a Panel of Experts and Dialogue on October 29, 2013.

The objective of the discussion panel is to present the current situation of the region, the major challenges posed by rapid urbanization as well as, to identify best practices and efforts in the region to build more sustainable cities in the Americas. This meeting will highlight the importance of this issue in the economic development, social, environmental sustainability, and the management of the cities in the Americas.

The program of sustainable cities and communities in the Americas has allowed 14 civil society organizations to implement community demonstration projects in the areas of clean energy, sustainable waste management, mitigation of natural disasters, and sustainable transportation in their communities with grants provided by the Permanent Mission of the United States to the OAS through the Energy and Climate Partnership of the Americas (ECPA).
