“Inter-American Congress on the Environmental Rule of Law”
“Inter-American Congress on the Environmental Rule of Law”
The Inter-American Congress on the Environmental Rule of Law builds on UNEP’s World Congress on Justice, Governance and Law for Environmental Sustainability by advancing the debate on good environmental governance in the Americas. The Inter-American Congress will explore the necessary knowledge base to support the development and strengthening of environmental laws, policies and institutions, as the foundation for sustainable development in the region; bringing together experts, government officials, students, civil society and private sector to share different perspectives on environmental law; creating a space for debate and reflection on emerging trends of environmental law; and encouraging continuous research on issues related to environmental law and governance in the Hemisphere through publication of papers.
The Caribbean Court of Justice and the Caribbean Academy for Law and Court Administration will partner with UNEP, the OAS and the World Commission on Environmental Law as well as other global and regional institutions in facilitating the next Inter-American Congress on the Environmental Rule of Law, tentatively scheduled for 30-31 March 2015.
The Inter-American Congress on Environmental Law will establish a permanent forum for reflection and collective learning allowing a fluid and comprehensive exchange knowledge and experiences amongst multiple stakeholders as well as fostering the environmental rule of law in the Hemisphere in an open environment of intellectual freedom and dialogue. The focus of the Congress will be thematic and procedural under the umbrella of the environmental rule of law.
