Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination® Green Engineering Boot Camp
The Caribbean Examinations Council, in collaboration with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and the Organization of American States (OAS), will be hosting a boot camp for teachers of CAPE® Green Engineering. This activity is scheduled to be held on the 4–6 April 2018 at the Iberostar Hotel, Montego Bay.
The Boot Camp is designed to apprise participants of the resources that have been created to support the implementation of the CAPE® Green Engineering Syllabus. The boot camp seeks to ensure that teachers involved in the implementation and assessment of the newly developed CAPE® Green Engineering Syllabus are appropriately prepared to facilitate the development of learner mastery of the subject. Teachers attending the workshop will also be trained to access the Open Educational Resources for CAPE® Green Engineering which are housed on www.Notesmaster.com. The teachers attending the boot camp will also have the opportunity to create resources which will be added to Notesmaster, creating an even larger pool of resources for teachers across the Caribbean.
Objectives
At the completion of the Boot Camp, participants will:
- have a clear understanding of the requirements of the CAPE® Green Engineering Syllabus;
- have a clear understanding of the resources developed to support the implementation of the CAPE® Green Engineering Syllabus;
- be able to use resources to guide students in the completion of the CAPE® Green Engineering Syllabus;
- be aware of the importance of resources to facilitate the formative assessment process; and,
- acquire first-hand information on the operations of a renewable energy facility.
Outcomes
At the end of the workshop participants should be able to:
- demonstrate an understanding of the requirements of the syllabus;
- demonstrate an understanding of how to implement resources in the teaching and learning process; and,
- use a range of resources to support diverse assessment strategies.
