The Thirty-Fifth Special Meeting of the Council for Trade and Economic Development (COTED) on Energy (March 2011, Guyana) had mandated the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat to strengthen, expand and redefine the regional energy information framework. With the aim to fulfill this mandate the Secretariat is organizing the Workshop on Energy Information and Knowledge Management Systems scheduled for 24-25 September 2014 at the Hilton Rosehall Resort and Spa in Montego Bay, Jamaica,
The Organization of American States, through the ECPA Energy Efficiency Working Group, is collaborating in the staging of this event. The Government of Germany, through the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Technical Assistance (REETA) Project, is also a co-sponsor of the Workshop.
The main objective of the Workshop is to provide a forum for Member States and other key stakeholders to consider the available options and the opportunities that can be provided through the proposed Energy Information Systems (EIS), towards arriving at a consensus on the proposed architecture for the development of a Regional Energy Information System, and to develop a strategy and implementation plan for its deployment.
