Renewable Energy in the Americas: Integration and Innovation

The 6th Meeting of Energy Ministers of the Energy and Climate Partnership of the Americas (ECPA) is a high-level event that convenes government leaders, private sector representatives, experts in energy and sustainable development, and other key stakeholders from across Latin America and the Caribbean. This high-level gathering focuses on discussing, exchanging ideas, and forming concrete commitments to further the transition to clean, sustainable, and renewable energy in the Americas.

Objectives

Strengthen the regional commitment to accelerating the transition to clean energy, in line with the commitments of the IX Summit of the Americas.
Foster dialogue between the public and private sectors to identify opportunities and challenges regarding sustainable development and the energy transition.
Promote private investment in the energy sector, focusing on resilient infrastructure and clean energy.
Enhance regional cooperation networks and mechanisms to support efforts in the energy transition.
Share best practices, experiences, and knowledge in key areas such as decarbonization of transportation and industry, energy storage systems, and energy resilience.

Program

Day 1: March 14, 2024

The first day of the event is dedicated to thematic side events, networking activities, and the official opening of the 6th ECPA Meeting of Energy Ministers. The thematic side events address critical topics such as private investment in the energy sector, clean hydrogen certification, and energy resilience in the Caribbean. The day concludes with a welcome dinner hosted by high authorities of the Dominican Republic with the heads of delegations from the participating countries.

Day 2: March 15, 2024

The second day includes plenary sessions, dialogue opportunities between ministers and entrepreneurs, and closing activities. The topics are mechanisms to attract private investment, the role of companies in the energy transition, and the commitment of the power sector to decarbonization. The event concludes with a closing session where political commitments and the adoption of key protocols to boost the energy transition in the region are expected.
