ECPA Fellows Invited to Speak at Fulbright NEXUS Scholar Symposium

Monday, September 16, 2013

Senior ECPA Fellows Jeff SouleFrank Lowenstein and Janaki R.R. Alavalapati will be serving as panelists for the Fulbright NEXUS Scholar Symposium on Sept. 18 to 19.

It is a great honor for the three ECPA Fellows and Partners of the Americas to be a part of this event. Not only will they be sharing their knowledge on specific issues, but they will be fostering connections with scholars, something that Partners has always excelled at.

ECPA Fellow Dan Kammen serves as the lead scholar for the Fulbright program. He has selected 20 grantees that have been working on new and interesting environmental projects throughout this year.

Their projects culminate with this Symposium where the ECPA Fellows will speak and share their knowledge with the class of nexus scholars. Together, the four ECPA Fellows will be representing Partners’ ECPA program as they speak on their research at the Symposium. The three Fellows will each moderate a panel on their specific interests.

  • Jeffrey Soule: Climate Change and Development Impacts on Ecosystems
  • Frank Lowenstein: Strengthening the Adaptation Strategies of Vulnerable Populations
  • Janaki R.R. Alavalapati: Sustainable Development Strategies and Conflicts

Other specialists in the environment field will be speaking as well. Panelists include members from the U.S. Department of State, the Director of Environmental Policy Program at University of Maryland and Carbon War Room.

Stay tuned for a blog post on each of the panels after the Symposium.
