Through two days of practical training, The National Energy Board (CNE) assessed and reoriented driving techniques of administrative departments in charge of transport and human resources of 8 public institutions in order to show the skills adopted by other countries to save fuel and to raise awareness of the benefits in the driving safety that this technique generates to the drivers.

Institutions that successfully conducted the workshop were: Ministry of Finance, Economy, Environment and Natural Resources, Interior, Labor, Agriculture, Education, and the Ministry of Justice and Public Safety.

The course was conducted by officers who specialized in Mexico as part of the Energy and Climate Partnership of the Americas (ECPA) and through the working group on energy efficiency, which requested the collaboration of the National Commission for the Efficient Use Mexico Energy (CONUEE), for technical exchange in efficient driving.

The motivation to replicate efficient driving, is based on the efforts of the program that promotes energy efficiency in public buildings in support of the CNE with UNDP to have savings in state institutions.

In addition the training of trainers was supported by the General Secretariat of the Organization of American States OAS, through its Department of Sustainable Development, who approved the course in Mexico City.

The immediate expected results of this workshop is to register a minimum fuel consumption for public institutions, to obtain the best performance from their cars, increase driver safety and therefore reducing road accidents, tires and spare parts optimization for automotive and decreased emissions.

In a second day of the CNE knowledge, the following institutions will participate in ecodriving instructions: Social Investment Fund for Local Development (FISDL), National Registration Center (NRC), Superintendent of Electricity and Telecommunications (SIGET), Executive Hydroelectric Commission del Rio Lempa (CEL), National Water and Sewerage (ANDA), Autonomous Executive Port Commission (CEPA), the Salvadoran Social Security Institute (ISSS) and Ministry of Health.
