On October 31, 2013, the Latin American Integration Association (ALADI) headquarters in Montevideo presented the study “Energy: A Vision on the Challenges and Opportunities in Latin America and the Caribbean,” developed jointly through the following Regional Organizations linked to the energy sector: ALADI, ARPEL, CEPAL, CIER, OAS, OLADE, and WEC, sponsored by CAF.

The study includes an intelligent diagnostic of the current state and conceptualization of lessons learned in the regional energy sector. Both completed and ongoing studies were taking into consideration in order to shape a more holistic and systematic focus. Not only was the supply and demand balance for energy considered, but all the social and environmental elements were also factored in, in such a way that the results will promote, in a second stage, a new Energy Agenda for Latin America and the Caribbean.

The main focus of the study was the creation of a profound diagnostic through the vision of all of the participating organisms in the project, so that the Energy Agenda for the region can derive from a shared vision, contributing to regional energy planning.

The presentation was shared as a press conference to the authorities of the participating organisms, and the was also transmitted as a live webcast on the ALADI website.
