The Department of Sustainable Development of the Organization of American States (OAS) is organizing the Third Seminar on Innovation, Science and Technology for Energy Efficient Development. The seminar will be held on May 8 and 9, 2014, at the Hotel Camino Real in Chiapas, Mexico.
This seminar an Energy Efficiency Working Group activity, initiative under the broader Energy and Climate Partnership of the Americas (ECPA) framework. The Mexican Ministry of Energy (SENER), the International Centre for Theoretical Physics in Trieste, and the Polytechnic University of Chiapas, with support from the OAS Department of Sustainable Development, joined forces for sharing the progress on academic programs being carried out on green-sustainable buildings in universities in the Americas. This seminar aims to share the advancement of sustainable green building concepts with delegates from 20 universities from 17 countries across the Americas.
This event aims to create a space for dialogue and debate that can contribute to the exchange of experiences on academic programs related to energy efficiency to help identify areas of cooperation in scientific and technological research being advanced in Latin America and the Caribbean. Seminar activities include a visit to the Center for Research and Technological Development in Renewable Energy at the Polytechnic University of Chiapas and the Nestlé’s COFFEE-MATE premises, a leading nutrition, health and wellness company awarded with LEED Platinum Certification Version 3 (2012).
The seminar is the result of the joint efforts between the governments leading ECPA’s Energy Efficiency Working Group through the OAS Department of Sustainable Development of the Executive Secretariat for Integral Development (SEDI), which serves as the Clearinghouse for this hemispheric partnership.
