It’s Time to “Accelerate the Pace for Renewable Energy Action” in the Region

MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica—Countries from across the Americas today wrapped up two days of intense discussions on topics as diverse as regional energy integration, energy poverty, and the role of natural gas at a time when renewable energy sources such as solar and wind are playing a bigger role in electric power generation in the region. Other topics on the table included electric mobility, energy efficiency, gender and energy, and bioenergy.

Chile Cancels Hosting Arrangement for Santiago Climate Change Conference

The President of Chile, Sebastián Piñera, has announced the Government of Chile’s decision not to host the UN Climate Change Conference, “taking into consideration the difficult circumstances in the country.” The 25th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 25) was originally scheduled to take place from 2-13 December 2019, in Santiago, Chile.
